Stuff from September 30, 2012

Echo had a pretty normal day.

Amy shot this video of her and Gimli in the back yard.  (Keep in mind that Gimli is a 7 year-old dachshund.)
I think they are beginning to get along pretty well.

---
On a side-note, Echo is turning into a "noisy" dog.  I didn't say "loud".  I said "noisy".

I think she is learning from Gimli, who learned from Tas.

Anyway, Echo is developing "noises".

For instance, up until a few days ago, when she yawned, it was silent.  Now, she does this kind of "squeak" at the end of her yawn, like Gimli.

If you move her when she is mostly asleep, but not completely asleep, she will groan, like Gimli.

There are others she has developed.

It's nothing wrong, or obtrusive.

Amy says that she is growing into her personality.

Like a kid of a similar stage of development, I think she is taking this "personality quirk" for a "test drive" to see if she likes it.

---

Another side-note, during a point in the "deck night" where I needed Amy to take Echo for a bit, Amy went into the laundry room with her.

Our house is a mess right now, and the laundry room floor is covered in dirty clothes, from all of us.

Echo got on top of the pile, found the things she liked the smell of the best, and settled in.

Amy couldn't talk her from her perch. ... It took some persuasion from me to get her out of there.

---

The night was a bit different than normal.

Counting me and Amy, we were expecting 6+ for dinner, and a "grill/deck" night was promised.

The videos tell the story the best:

---

While we have not gone the 30 minutes that Kathy directed, Echo and I have done 1/2 mile walks each of the last two nights.  We cover the ground in about 15 minutes, or so.

We come back to the house.  I take her in the backyard and, with the command "hurry",  she pees.

She might be agitated for a few minutes after that, but, quickly, she ends up like this:
I don't know if she is up to a single 30 minute walk, yet.  On the other hand, 2 or more 15 minute walks within a day, I think, are well within what she is capable of.

Yes, that tan and white blob on the red blanket, in the crate is Echo.
